Wasted Pilgrim was written in the time that I quit my last low-wage job (cleaning the third floor offices of a large bank) and moved town.
I remember the lyrics of this one taking some time to get right. The title "Wasted Pilgrim" I had wanted to use as the title of an album I had planned which never materialised, so in the end I used it for this song.
It's kind of a subdued anthem, a crooked chronicle of a pilgrimage undertaken for unspoken reasons. "I've got nothing in my pocket, nothing in my dirty hands / I have no more illusions about the ambush ahead"
